Relevance of studying History, my FB post 19 Jun 2018

History is the only source which gives us an idea how we the humans can totally become alien to our own habits, culture, nature, diet. Ragi and Horsegram were evident in Assam and Meghalaya during Middle Paleolithic age. Evidence shows it. But now we look at both these as foreign cereals. Perfect grid system was used to build cities like Harappa, Mohenjodaro, Lothal, Kalibangan etc with straight roads intersecting in right angles. Oval sized Harappan cities were present in Haryana with Radial roads emanating from centre. Mesopotamian civilization was only one eighth the size of Indus valley civilization. But now in India, we can't plan a modern city. The expertise achieved 6/7 thousand years ago is lost. We need Le Corbusier to plan Chandigarh or Gandhinagar. When Gallileo was jailed for going against the orthodox church in Europe, Indian scientists already calculated circumference of the earth, found out that the earth was spherical, Sun is a star, 9 planets of the solar system. ...

PL 480 VS Hydroxy Chloroquine Indians & Americans

You should know about PL 480 wheat import from USA during 1970s & India's HCQ export to them in 2020. See the difference between Indians & Americans. (200 words explanation)         After independence, India relied on food crop supplies from the United States under Public Law 480 (PL-480) against rupee payments. Later this measure was considered as a folly. India was not technologically developed on Independence. Despite very good annual agricultural growth form 1956-65 of 3% per annum, India had been facing food shortages. Agricultural growth was not promising as demand was rising with population at 2.2% per annum from earlier 1%. Indian market was not able to meet the demand fully and then India started importing form U.S from 1956 under PL-480 scheme. Later it turned to be a wrong step as reasons behind this are:- Increasing dependence on food from U.S, Indo-Sino(1962), Indo-Pak(1965) war and two successive famines (1965-66) further aggravated the s...

Diverse reaction of scrapping 370,35A

Scrapping of Art 370 & 35A is a long due correction in Indian politics. It was forced upon us by the oppotunists in 1954. But our clever PM Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru made it a presidential order instead of passing it in Parliament or as an Ordnance. So he deliberately made a law not tenable by Indian Constitution. Our beloved PM knew that at most suitable time when India will become powerful, the leadership will scrap the Articles. The moment for scrapping the laws has come now and our leaders took the bold decision to cancel it. As if in a preplanned manner every political party took sides, so that the international community can have a feeling that there are people who even oppose the move. Hence there's no threat to democracy as declared by the separatists. But now normal public who have little bit of information about the articles are hailing the decision, but others who don't know or for other reasons best known to them are opposing the Government. Many such people beli...

Assam Flood

The situation in Assam is far from normal. 90 % of the Kaziranga national Park is inundated. Animals have taken shelter on roads and in human huts. The social media sensational picture of the Indian Tiger resting on a man's bed is testimony to that. The helping hands are coming but they are not enough.  We can only beg for help, not demand it. We request all fellow humans to help us get rid of this disaster. You may help at your own will, with your suitable mode. But for humanity's sake plz help, as it would bring life to a fellow Indian in Assam. We celebrate Indian victory when it wins, lest it be Hima Das or Cricket or  Bajrang or Punia or Hockey. Let's celebrate this time Indian harmony by bailing out Assam from the Natural disaster. https://cm.assam.gov.in/relieffund.php

THE CHINESE DILEMMA

THE CHINESE DILEMMA                 Hindi Chini Bhai Bhai was certainly a blunder game by India in those days of Nehruvian policies. Though it is so sweet to dream of a brotherly relationship between the two big economies and neighbours of Asia, but it is equally more impractical to materialise. This hard fact was realised by both the nations at different times. Chinese learnt it during their invasion of Tibet in 1950 when they realised how important India was on it’s way of establishing supremacy in Asia. India realised it during another invasion by China on itself in 1962.                 Since long China has been playing a prefect plot to engage India in petty issues and raising it’s proxy struggle to contain India. India has been busy in dealing with a neighbouring country run by corrupt Generals who are working at the behes...

Demonetisation, scrutiny by a common man

8th November 2016 will be remembered in economic History as a day when a 2.6 Trillion Dollar economy, that ranks 6th in the world comprising 4.6 percent of the world economy was churned out. Demonetisation has been one of the twin jerks, the country faced after the Modi govt came to power. The other jerk is of course GST. Now that the RBI has admitted that 99.3% of all demonetised notes came back to the banking system (not counting what remains in Nepal and Bhutan), it is fairly clear that  demonetisation  was a flop in economic terms. The  Economic Survey for 2016-17  estimated the loss in economic output arising from Demonetisation to be nearly 0.25 to 1 percentage of the GDP. GDP growth rate slowed from 8% in 2015-16 to 7.1% in 2016-17 to 6.7% in 2017-18. There are people who argue that growth lost steam for reasons other than demonetisation, such as introduction of GST in July 2017 and the twin balancesheet problem depressing investment in the economy. Sin...

Distortion of Indian History, Part II

" History is the version  of past events that people have decided to agree upon", said Napoleon Bonaparte. It is a common account accepted by most of the people (either by compulsion or by conviction) In our country, the modern education system introduced by  Lord Macaulay had its own compulsions to serve the British cause. He said the following about India in 1835 in British Parliament.   "I have traveled across the length and breadth of India and I have not seen one person who is a beggar, who is a thief. Such wealth I have seen in this country, such high moral values, people of such calibre, that I do not think we would ever conquer this country, unless we break the very backbone of this nation, which is her spiritual and cultural heritage, and, therefore, I propose that we replace her old and ancient education system, her culture, for if the Indians think that all that is foreign and English is good and greater than their own, they will los...
